Foley Mountain Forest School

Foley Mountain Forest School offers an alternative education in which children spend most of their time outside, learning through experiential, hands-on opportunities that promote curiosity in an active and authentic learning environment. Students will receive the benefits of repeated and regular visits to a natural area, in a play and inquiry-based education setting.

Programs that we offer: 


Kindergarten Program General Information

  • Pre-registration is required
  • Children ages 3-6 years welcome (3 year olds can attend once per week, 4–6 year olds can attend twice per week)
  • Cost per morning is $25/child plus HST
  • 9:00 a.m. to 12pm (3 hours), two days a week

Forest School Kindergarten Sessions

  • You can sign up for one or more sessions at a time.  Payment for each session is due one week prior to start date.  All prices include HST. 
  • We will try to accommodate your preferred day of the week as best as possible.

New Trial School Age Program

For the winter 2020, we are offering a trial school age program on Mondays!

  • Pre-registration is required
  • For children aged 4-10
  • There is the option of attending for just the morning (9am – 12 pm) for a cost of $25/morning plus HST or staying for the full day (9am – 3pm) for a cost of $50/day plus HST.
  • The session will run from January 6 – March 23, 2020 (no class on February 17 or March 16).

Forest School FREE Family Drop In Programs 

Thanks to a generous donation by the Friends of Foley Mountain, we had a great summer of FREE morning programs for families with children of all ages!  The fun will continue this fall in partnership with both the Township of Rideau Lakes and Country Roads Community Health Centre.  Children and parents or guardians can experience nature hands-on, as a family, connect with the outdoors and build a lifelong relationship with the natural world.  Join our educators as we explore, adventure, play, and learn in the forests of Foley Mountain!  We'll run rain or shine so please come dressed for the weather.
