MANOTICK, May 22, 2026 – Is it even a party without live birds, water games and bins of aquatic bugs?
After 60 years of conservation, that’s the kind of party the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority likes to throw – and the entire community is invited to join in.
On Saturday, June 13 the RVCA will host a free, family-friendly day of activities at its Manotick office – including two thrilling Birds of Prey shows from the Canadian Raptor Conservancy.
It’s a chance to celebrate six decades of conservation, stewardship, education, and community partnership across the Rideau watershed.

“We’ve accomplished so much thanks to many wonderful partnerships with our municipalities, landowners and conservation partners,” said RVCA general manager Sommer Casgrain-Robertson. “This community day celebrates everyone who has championed our work since 1966.”
The day's itinerary includes:
- 9:30 a.m. – Official welcome
- 10:30 a.m. & 1 p.m. – Birds of Prey shows
- 11:30 a.m. – Forestry Talk
- 2 p.m. – Bats & Species at Risk Talk
Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy interactive activities as they learn about aquatic species, water quality, tree planting, invasive species and more.
Plenty of live demonstrations, conservation-themed games, wildlife displays and forest school fun will keep all ages entertained until 3 p.m.
For the gardeners in the crowd, a native plant sale will offer pollinator plants, trees and shrubs to help residents naturalize their shoreline or gardens.

Refreshments will be available throughout the day, including sweet treats, drinks, and fresh-cut fries from Fries for Charity in support of the Rideau Valley Conservation Foundation.
Guests may wish to bring cash to enjoy the fundraising food booths and support Foundation activities.
