WESTPORT, May 12, 2026 – Hikers can take the trail less travelled by as part of a free guided hike at Foley Mountain Conservation Area this May.
The two-hour hike along the rugged Orange Trail promises ever-changing terrain, interesting rocky outcrops and scenic views, as well as some educational context along the way.
Registered hikers will meet at the conservation area’s interpretive centre parking lot on Saturday, May 23 at 10 am. With a guide in the lead, they will follow the moderate Orange loop for about 2.3 kilometres. The hike should take about 1.5 hours to complete, including educational stops along the way. All ages are welcome, but it is not accessible for strollers or wheelchairs.
Space is limited, and participants must register in advance through EventBrite.
“This is your chance to go deeper into Foley Mountain and explore a more rugged side of the property,” said Foley Mountain outdoor educator Victoria Renner, who will be one of two guides leading the hike. “We’re so excited to welcome people to explore this trail at a beautiful time of the year.”

The hike is part of a series of public events to complement RVCA’s 60th Anniversary Outdoor Adventure Challenge taking place throughout 2026. The self-guided challenge encourages participants to visit all 11 conservation areas by year’s end, with no trail logs or kilometre counting required. Adventurers can also send away for a set of free water bottle stickers featuring each of the sites.
