Environmental Technician (Manotick)
RVCA is one of 36 conservation authorities in Ontario responsible for furthering the "conservation, restoration, development and management of natural resources in the watershed" under the Conservation Authorities Act. We are dedicated to protecting people and property from natural hazards like flooding and erosion, while conserving the wetlands, forests and natural areas that reduce their impacts.
Summer Student, Full Time
April 27 to August 28, 2026
Main work location: 3889 Rideau Valley Dr, Manotick, ON
Secondary work location: 10970 Hwy 7, Carleton Place, ON
Work schedule is 35 hours a week, Monday through Friday
Hourly rate of $18.10
There is no public transportation to the worksite; candidates should ensure they have reliable transportation prior to applying.

About the Job
You will be responsible for:
- Assisting with the organization and implementation of the septic re-inspection program for rural
properties within the watershed. - Assisting with conducting inspections of on-site wastewater systems
- Field work can involve walking on uneven ground, working in adverse weather conditions, some
lifting of equipment (up to 50lbs). - Field work and inspection duties can involved travel to remote areas within the watershed.

- Responding to enquiries from the public.
- Supporting the Rideau septic program and working out of the RVCA office in Manotick as needed.
Who you are
As the preferred candidate you:
- Are a recent high school graduate or post-secondary student
- Are familiar with and interested in learning about water/wastewater treatment technologies.
- Can analyze data using standard software packages (such as Microsoft Excel and GIS)
- Can read and interpret technical plans and documents.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Are as comfortable working in an office environment as you are in the field.
- Don’t mind working in adverse weather conditions like heat and rain and you are comfortable working
on and around water. - Hold a valid Class G2 or higher driver’s license and be able to provide an acceptable driving record.
