Garbage Cleanup and Invasives Removal – Jock River Embayment

Date:  Saturday 03 June 2023 -

We will be conducting a cleanup and invasive species removal along the Jock River. We will split the group into two groups at two locations. We will be meeting at the park Parking lot of the Richmond Conservation Area for 9AM.

Parking: There is parking at Richmond Conservation Area on Royal York Street
Meeting location: We will be meeting at the Richmond Conservation Area
What to wear: Dress for the weather! Wear waterproof boots, long pants and a hat
What to bring: Feel free to bring your own gloves if you have a favorite but we will provide them; please bring your own water bottle
What we will provide: We will have drinking water to replenish empty bottles, some snacks, chest waders, garbage bags and gloves

Invasive Species and benthos workshop & Buckthorn/ Honeysuckle removal and cleanup

City Stream Watch will be joining the Danbe foundation for a day workshop of benthic invertebrates and invasive species at the Accora Village property. RVCA City Stream Watch will be displaying and collecting with volunteers benthic invertebrates and providing information on invasive species. This is a family event, all are welcome. Accora Village staff will be contacting the local residents, CSW will contacting the mailing list and adjacent property owners in Creeks End Lane.

Parking: There is parking at Accora Village

Invasive Species (Japanese Knotweed) removal – Sawmill Creek

City Stream Watch will be conducting a removal of the invasive Japanese knotweed at Sawmill Creek along the Towngate Shopping Plaza region. Participants will help dig out and remove the invasive plant along shorelines surrounding Sawmill Creek. We will meet up in the South (back end) of the Towngate Parking lot for 9:00AM.

Parking: There is parking at the shopping plaza
Meeting location: We will be meeting at the south end of the parking lot behind the Produce Depot
What to wear: Dress for the weather! Wear waterproof boots, long pants and a hat
