Following last year’s success, Lanark County and the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority (RVCA), are hosting another spring tree giveaway.

Residents can get one free bundle of ten bare root trees available on Saturday, May 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Beckwith Park (1319 Beckwith 9th Line) while quantities last.

Trees Available:

  • Sugar maple
  • white spruce
  • white cedar
  • white oak

Those looking to get their free tree bundle should come with something to protect the seedling's roots prior to planting (e.g., plastic bag, etc).

To give your trees the best start, below is some helpful information on how to plant and care for your new seedlings:

Want to plant more trees?

For those who want to plant more trees, the RVCA can help. The RVCA has a tree planting program with significant subsidies to help Lanark landowners take root.

To participate, landowners need a minimum of one acre (0.4 hectares) and be willing to plant at least 1,000 trees. The average cost for this full-service planting program is usually $3/tree, but landowners in the RVCA watershed typically only pay $0.15/tree ($120/acre) because RVCA’s funding partners pay the rest.

You can learn more about the program at
