RVCA is one of 36 conservation authorities in Ontario responsible for furthering the "conservation, restoration, development and management of natural resources in the watershed" under the Conservation Authorities Act. We are dedicated to protecting people and property from natural hazards like flooding and erosion, while conserving the wetlands, forests and natural areas that reduce their impacts. 

About the Job

You will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring compliance with the Ontario Building Code, Part IV of the Clean Water Act and other regulations concerning septic applications.

  • Completing onsite septic inspections, evaluating applications and investigating and evaluating complaints.

  • Evaluating applications submitted under section 28 of the Conservation Authorities Act.

  • Providing technical advice and assistance to committees.

  • Creating ad hoc reports.

  • Issuing enforcement orders when necessary and assisting with the sewage system re-inspection program.

 

Who you are

As the preferred candidate you:

  • Are familiar with the Ontario Building Code and are qualified and registered with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing or are eligible to become qualified and registered with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing as a Building Official for Part 8.

  • Hold or are eligible to become a certified Risk Management Inspector under Part IV of the Clean Water Act.

  • Have at least two years of relevant experience and hold a college diploma or degree in environmental science, engineering technology or a related field.

  • Can interpret technical plans and documents as well as work independently and set priorities.

  • Are comfortable working with the public and collaborating with coworkers.

  • Can work indoors and outdoors sometimes in poor weather and in potentially hazardous environments.

  • Can walk/hike on uneven/unstable terrain.

  • Can carry equipment weighing up to 50lbs and dig using manual shovel as needed.

  • Hold a class G drivers’ licence and an acceptable driving record.

  • Salary range of $69,582 to $83,237 (2024 rates of pay)
