Most students work at our head office located in Beryl Gaffney Park just outside of Manotick. It’s steps away from the Rideau River which is accessible by the many walking trails at our backdoor. Some work at the Baxter Conservation Area or the Workshop located just south of Kars. Others work at Foley Mountain Conservation Area in Westport or at the Mississippi Rideau Septic System Office in Carleton Place.
In all locations public transportation is limited; candidates should ensure they have reliable transportation prior to applying.
The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority is the lead intermunicipal agency working to address river-related environmental issues and concerns within the Rideau Valley watershed. Thanks to our many partners, the scope of our environmental protection work includes planning, source water protection, tackling flooding and erosion problems and researching water movement and use in the valley. We help people maintain healthy shorelines, provide advice on development-related issues and report to municipalities, agencies and the public about watershed conditions and trends. We also provide public access to natural waterfront areas, deliver community-based stewardship programs, reduce water pollution and protect fish and wildlife habitat.
If you have a strong commitment to the environment and the protection of land and water resources; if you thrive on variety, are looking for interesting work and want to learn new skills, then a summer job at the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority may be the ideal opportunity for you!
We are hiring post-secondary students to work in a variety of roles, including:
- water resource technicians
- regulations assistant
- environmental technician
- day camp counsellor/lifeguard
- grounds maintenance

Some positions require a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record. If your education and career goals lead naturally to working in a Conservation Authority environment, please send us your resume by February 12, 2021.
If submitting your application by e-mail, in the subject line please indicate the program in which you are enrolled, your year of study and the year you will graduate.
