Thanks to our many partners, the scope of our environmental protection work includes planning, source water protection, tackling flooding and erosion problems and researching water movement and use in the valley. We help people maintain healthy shorelines, provide advice on development-related issues and report to municipalities, agencies and the public about watershed conditions and trends. We also provide public access to natural waterfront areas, deliver community-based stewardship programs, reduce water pollution and protect fish and wildlife habitat.

You will increase community interest and involvement in enhancing the health of the watershed through tree planting project design and implementation. You will help with education and outreach efforts and will work with private landowners to achieve their afforestation objective and to ensure successful tree establishment across the watershed. On a regular basis, you will assist with the work on remediation projects and other capital projects as well as have opportunities to gain experiences working on Conservation Lands and with several other departments.
As the ideal candidate, you have a diploma in forestry or another related environmental program. You have at least 1 year of relevant experience and are familiar with forestry practices with a focus on afforestation. You are able to work with GIS tools and database programs. You must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, plus experience or a willingness to learn how to operate equipment.
