Update: December 10, 2009
A Final Report and Flood Plain Mapping for the Van Gaal Drain and its tributaries in the northwest corner of the Village of Richmond, have now been completed by JF Sabourin and Associates Inc. on behalf of the RVCA and City of Ottawa.
The Board of Directors of the RVCA will receive and consider an RVCA Staff Report on the project at its upcoming meeting on December 17, 2009.
These reports come at the conclusion of a technical study which began in October 2008 with the objective of delineating areas that are susceptible to flooding under 1:100 year flood conditions on the Jock River or Van Gaal Drain, as needed for land use planning and development review.
The draft flood plain maps and supporting technical report were released for public review and comment in early September. In the Final Report and Mapping, some adjustments have been made in response to comments and questions raised during the review period.
During the course of this study, earthworks were undertaken in the study area. The potential effect of these earthworks on the delineation of flood lines has not been taken into account at this time. If warranted, further revisions to the flood line mapping will be made at a later date.
